Falcon Heights.

I waltz around this wildly ethnic store with my western white eyes.
westernised and closed eyes.
I see ‘woke‘ t-shirts all around me.
Why, have these folk been asleep all along?
Melanin flavoured fabrics and supremacy resistant CDs and toys, stacked falcon heights  higher than they’ll ever reach.
Ghosts of their sons,
no their suns, scorch my own.
There goes a little sun running past by my feet.
My wife corrects me, a star, they’re dead by the time they’re seen.
How filthy their kind is, a skittles packet lies there.
do they not know ants come to eat out the sweet things?
my pride opens that very packet.
every crunch whispers tray-they-von-done-this‘.

A cell goes off, I must crush that very model.
This music is too loud, do their afros penetrate their eardrums?
Their sweet skin brings in,
this life, “oh this little light” white skin of mine.
Cigarettes and cigarillos, O Lord why have thou forsaken
their lungs and now they “can’t breathe”.
Yet another star joining their suns – riding in his
small toy car,
vigorously waving his toy gun,
with his broken tail light,
does he not know he could hurt
my pride, I mean my officer,
I mean my son,
I mean,
justice,
I mean,
just this.

Their coconut oil drips through the cracks of this very foundation.
Why are their melanin shades loving
the sun,
their sun,
their suns,
their sons.
This wildly ethnic store must be closed
down.
A hazard to society.
A ghettoisation.
A failure to signal.
I mean are they too busy sleeping
or
offending my western white eyes?
